In Greene County district court Howard James Natzel, 59, of Minneapolis, MN, was granted a deferred judgment May 30 after he entered an Alford plea to a charge of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. (In entering an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to committing a crime, but believes that given the facts in the county attorney’s information, a jury would find him guilty of the crime.) Natzel was placed on informal probation for one year. He must pay a $625 civil penalty, a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge and $186 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilt at arraignment as follows: Robert Alan Fry, 40, of Jefferson, burglary- third degree, possession of marijuana- second offense. A trial date is set for July 18.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Mark Edward Dugan II, 38, of Des Moines has been charged with possession of methamphetamine- second offense. The warrant was issued last August and returned May 30.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Dylan Scott Davis, 18, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana- first offense; Steven Logan Dzuris, 30, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense; Brian Thomas Roe, 48, of Carroll, operating while intoxicated- first offense; Jamie Lynette Glass, 41, of Rippey, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Jolisha Lashay Dudley, 25, of Fort Dodge, driving while license barred.
